Summer 2016 Highlights

200 Laptops Donated in 45 Days!
Thanks to our generous donors, the Laptops for KidZ project received over 200 donated laptops in a 45 day period, starting in early July.  A combination of corporate, individual and small business donors made donations ranging from 3 laptops to 132 laptops.

MAF’s team of volunteers has already refurbished and placed 122 of the laptops as of August 22, 2016.

Laptops for Seniors Field Test
The Masonic Angel Foundation is field testing a “Laptops for Seniors” project that will partner with area Senior Centers and Councils on Aging to place refurbished laptops with senior citizens who need computer access but cannot afford to obtain their own machine.  The project will also encompass seniors whose computer has broken and are not able to afford to replace it.  Senior Center staff will determine placements and will preserve the confidentiality of recipients.

Laptops for Seniors is being field tested in Eastham, Dennis and Chatham, Massachusetts in partnership with Senior Centers in the respective communities.

Many seniors who live in FHA subsidized housing may quality for Comcast’s Internet Essentials $9.95/month broadband access program.

More information about Laptops for Seniors will be forthcoming at the conclusion of the field test.

our project

For today’s school children, a home computer is an essential educational tool.  Children who do not have access to a computer outside of school hours suffer more and more of a disadvantage the further they progress through the grade levels.

The Laptops for KidZ Project helps.  Local businesses and individuals donate gently used laptop computers to the Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc.  The Laptop for KidZ Project’s volunteer staff refurbish the computers and make them ready for distribution to schools through the Masonic Angel Foundation’s partners in local school systems.

All refurbished laptops will be placed here in the United States.  We do not send computers to Africa, South America or elsewhere in the world.  In keeping with the MAF’s practice of “local help for local kids” we make every effort to place a donated computer as close as possible to the local community where the donation originated.  Blocks of laptops donated by manufacturers and national leasing companies will be placed in communities served by the Masonic Angel Foundation’s many subordinate chapters throughout the United States.
